About Me
Let's start with the basics!
Hi, I'm Brooke! I was born and raised in San Diego, CA, and moved to the Bay Area to build my career. I'm a mom to two amazing kids and a cat — and while my spouse and I live separately, being a present, dedicated mom is at the center of everything I do. My days are a balance of software engineering and parenthood, and I wouldn't have it any other way. When I'm not juggling work and family life, you'll find me on the ice — I've been a competitive figure skater most of my life and the sport has shaped who I am in more ways than I can count.
What I do
By day I'm a Software Engineer at Apple, where I work on the CoreOS team supporting Software Update and Mobile Asset. I've been building software at Apple since 2013 — first on the server side of iCloud's asset routing infrastructure, then as an individual contributor on the client side, and for a few years as an Engineering Manager leading a small team. I love solving hard problems and building things that work reliably at scale.
Beyond work and ice time
I'm a lifelong learner and hold a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I enjoy the outdoors and staying connected with my community. My son is a train enthusiast, so we've made it a mission to track down every train the Bay Area has to offer — it's become one of our favorite adventures together. My daughter has a thing for flowers, loves to break out in dance at any moment, and has no shortage of things to say about all of it — she's becoming quite the chatterbox and I love every minute of it.
